About Me
Hi, thank you for being here!
My name is Grant Barron, born and raised in Encinitas, CA.
My mom loved Jazz music, she said it would calm her down after a long day at work so she always had something playing on the radio when we were home. She purchased a guitar for me over the holidays one year, subsequently providing me guitar lessons shortly after as a way to harness my creative energy while also doing something physically and mentally engaging. Playing guitar quickly consumed my entire being. Back then I was rushing home after school to learn everything I could, and still, the creation of music has remained a grounding force throughout my life.
I played in bands throughout highschool and spent most of my youth obsessed with the history of rock’n’roll, listening to everything from the greats, Hendrix, Black Sabbath, The Beatles and Chuck Berry, John Coltrane, Nat King Cole, Charlie Parker, Little Richard, The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Radiohead the list goes on forever.
My passion for music and creating ultimately led me to attend The Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences, where I learned the ins and outs of music production, recording techniques and general work in the music industry. This led me to some stints working at recording studios like Shangri La (owned by Rick Rubin) in Malibu, CA and Howie Weinberg Mastering.
Recording music was fun, but I thought playing music loud was even cooler. I moved to San Francisco and started working in live sound at clubs throughout the city, perdominantly spending a few years as a Production Coordinator at The Midway SF, a 3k+ capacity venue hosting underground scene big names like Richie Hawtin, Marcel Dettman and Dixon to name a few.
All throughout, I loved music festivals and interned with Superfly, producers of Outside Lands and Bonnaroo. Eventually leading me to move to Austin, TX to work for SXSW and at Live Nation owned Front Gate Tickets, orchestarting site operations for some of the biggest festivals in the country.
That industry can be grueling, long hours among many other things. As my personal health became a greater priority, I hit pause and moved into corporate events as a Production Manager for brand product launches, sponsorship activations and global business leadership programs, working for brands like Dell Technologies, Cognizant and Cisco under the direction of Lacy Maxwell Productions.
If you’re still reading this! This is to say I’m now happily playing and teaching guitar to young students with a desire to learn and a passion for creating and expressing themselves through the gift of music. I’ve also become breathwork certified and teach how to reset our nerous systems through music, meditation and sound healing. I look forward to meeting you!
